Aerial photo showing morning fog lifting over the Suwannee River in Florida. The Suwannee is a federally designated wild river that rises in the Okefenokee Swamp in southern George and meanders 238 miles south to the Gulf of Mexico.
Stephen Foster’s song “Old Folks at Home” immortalized the “Swannee River,” however, Native American tribes lived on the banks of the river prior to European settlement.
