A woman sits lost in thought at a restaurant that employs dancers, wait staff, and performers that are migrant workers from Xinjiang Province in Northwest China. Most are from impoverished regions who go to more urban and prosperous coastal regions in search of work. According to Chinese government statistics, migrant workers in China are estimated at 120 million which is approximately 9% of the population. China has been experiencing the largest mass migration in history.
