Phyllis returned to her home town the first time she was released from the penitentiary. She soon found herself back behind bars for an infraction. This time she left hoping to find her son Anthony who was a restless young teen. He had pulled away from her over her two years of incarceration. He said,”My Mommas been locked up. I want to be locked up too.”

Phyllis moved in to the projects with a friend to start over.
The projects were full of crime and drugs, and Phyllis was determined to make a positive change.
